What We Do

The Xcess redistribution network’s core principle is to challenge the generation and use of surplus edible food by collaboration with its members and the food industry, sharing information, knowledge and good practice.

We work to build impact across the group and not just individual organisations.

Our focus is on untapped surplus rather than competing for what is already donated and redistributed, and to stop food surplus becoming a permanent problem.

We work to utilise edible surplus to ensure that nutritious food can be accessed by everyone, creating more resilient communities by supporting people's health and general wellbeing.

"Xcess was created from a shared belief that the food redistribution sector is stronger when organisations work together, learn from one another, and hold themselves to high standards of governance and accountability. By bringing together different experiences, models and perspectives, we can support each other and help the sector continue to grow its impact."
